Still looking for their first win of the 2019 season, the Cerritos College baseball team had their best inning of the season against Glendale College on Wednesday at Kincaid Field. Entering the bottom of the first inning trailing 2-0, the Falcons (0-3) scored four runs by drawing seven consecutive walks. They ended the stanza in front, 4-2, but went on to suffer a 20-6 loss at the hands of the Vaqueros. Weather permitting, Cerritos will host Palomar College at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

With one out in the first inning, freshman Wyatt Hall (Long Beach Millikan HS) got things going with a walk, followed by free pases to both sophomores Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) and Cody Ahrens (Mayfair HS/Hope International University) to load the bases. After Glendale pitcher Ethan Durant walked sophomores Andre Alvarez (Walnut HS) and Trevor McInerney (Cerritos HS/El Camino College) to drive in runs and tie the game, he was removed from the mound. Relief pitcher Eduardo Montenez came on and walked both freshmen Matt Den Hartog (Los Alamitos HS) and Vincent Martin (Chandler, AZ HS) to give the Falcons a 4-2 advantage.

Glendale responded with two more runs off sophomore starting picher Aaron Paek (Sunny Hills HS/Hope International University), and then started to pull away with three more runs in the third inning, which ended the day for Paek. The Vaqueros went on to score runs in eight of the nine innings against three Falcon pitchers.

Hall and Ahrens each drove in runs with base hits in the fourth inning, while Hall scored twice on the day. Den Hartog collected two of the team's eight walks.
