Concluding their three-day trip, the Cerritos College baseball team was defeated by Bakersfield College, 10-1 on Friday. The Falcons (7-27), who have three games left on the year, will play a two-game South Coast Conference series with Pasadena City College and then close out the season next Friday against Ventura College. The first game against the Lancers will take place on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Field.

Cerritos opened the game by taking a 1-0 lead, but saw the Renegades (25-13) score five runs over the next two innings and capped off the game with four unearned runs after two outs were recorded in the bottom of the eighth inning. One the day, the Falcons committed a season-high seven errors.

In the top of the first inning, freshman second baseman Alejandro Bueno (Centennial, NV HS) led off by getting hit by a pitch and then moved to second base on a two-out single by sophomore shortstop Trevor McInerney (Cerritos HS/El Camino College). Sophomore designated hitter Andre Alvarez (Walnut HS) put the team in front with a base hit up the middle, which scored Bueno. After the first inning, the Falcons were only able to get runners to second base three times off starting pitcher Alejandro Murillo and a pair of relief pitchers.

Sophomore starting pitcher Joshua Jorgensen (Lakewood HS/East Los Angeles College) lasted just two innings and allowed five runs on four hits, with freshman Anthony Gonzalez, Jr. (Norwalk HS) coming on in relief and pitched five innings, while allowing just one run on six hits with five strikeouts.
