When the Cerritos College baseball team put up five runs in the top of the second inning against host Santa Ana College on Thursday, it looked as though things were going to go well that day. However, the Dons (8-1-1) matched that run total in the bottom of the inning and went on to register a 21-8 win over the Falcons (8-3). In that inning, sophomore designated hitter Marco Lopez (Narbonne HS/Vanguard University) led off by reaching on an error, followed by a single from sophomore outfielder Nico Briones (Long Beach Millikan HS). With one out, freshman outfielder Isaiah Rios (St. John Bosco HS) drove in the first run with a single, followed by another RBI base hit from freshman Jorge Renteria (Gahr HS). The bases were loaded after another Santa Ana error, which set the table for Alonso Reyes (Culver City HS), who doubled home all three runners.

The pitching staff ended up being touched up for 21 runs on 15 hits, while they issued a season-high 10 walks.

Cerritos did go ahead, 8-5 in the fifth inning, but the Dons scored the game's next 16 runs.

Sophomore Mike Santos (Servite HS) clubbed a two-run home run in the fourth inning, while sophomore Anthony Bassett (Colegio Bautista de Managua, Nicaragua/Los Angeles Harbor College) tripled home the team's other run of the game.
