After two seasons where he appeared in 75 games for the Cerritos College baseball team, outfielder Nico Briones has decided to continue his career at Point Park University. The NCAA DII college is located in Pittsburgh and spent the first 50 years of their existence as an NAIA college.

The Falcons starting left fielder, Briones batted .209 on the year with five doubles, 12 RBI and stole five bases. Also an exceptional fielder, Briones had a .952 fielding percentage and was known to collide into an outfield fence or dive in foul territory for a fly ball.

He had a breakout game against El Camino College where he went 4-for-5 and also clubbed a pair of doubles in a 3-for-5 game against Mt. San Antonio College and scored three runs. As a freshman, Briones appeared in 32 games and batted .281 with six doubles, a triple and two home runs while driving in 16 runs.

Briones hit his home runs in consecutive games, which was part of a stretch where he had hits in 13 of 15 games (20-for-66) and scored 13 runs.

Briones will join a Pioneers team that went 42-15 on the season in 2024 and advanced to the NAIA Opening Round after winning the River States Conference (RSC) Championship Tournament for the second season in a row.

He is the seventh member of ther Falcons who are moving on to the next level and joins Calix Armijo (Cal State Northridge), Franky Lopez (Utah Valley University), DJ Massey (Utah Valley University), Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine), Anthony Bassett (Faulkner, AL University) and Marlon Oviedo (Faulkner, AL University).
