Now that the Cerritos College women's basketball team is in South Coast Conference divisional play, every game is magnified more than ever. The Falcons (7-13, 2-0) picked up their second win in as many games, as they posted a 54-44 win over host Los Angeles Southwest College on Friday night. The team will look for their third straight victory on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Harbor College (9-10, 2-0).

Against the Cougars (4-15, 0-2), the Falcons received all of their scoring from just four players, with sophomore Kaylyn James (Lakewood HS) leading the way with a game-high 23 points. She was affective on both ends of the court, as she drained four three-pointers to spark the offense, and recorded seven steals to anchor the defense.

As a team, Cerritos shot just 35% from the field, but limited their turnovers (12) and helped their cause with 16 offensive rebounds. Freshman Crystal Rodriguez (El Rancho HS), who produced 17 points on offense, pulled down eight of her team-high 13 rebounds on the offensive end, which helped her net 6-of-11 shots.

Freshman guards Angie Ferreira (Long Beach Millikan HS), Christina Mina (Bellflower HS) and Alondra Calderon (La Serna HS) dictated the tempo, and although Ferreria was the only one of the three to score (10 points), the trio accounted for nine of the team's assists, while Calderon pulled down five rebounds in the win. Freshman Alexis Clark (Mayfair HS) added four points and four rebounds, with freshman Mele Valele (Norwalk HS) adding four boards.
