Taking on divisional leader El Camino College on Wednesday night, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was defeated, 74-47 at home. The loss drops the Falcons to 7-16 overall and 2-3 in the South Coast Conference South Division with five games left in the season. The team will travel to Compton on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. game against ECC Compton Center.

The night started off bad for Cerritos, who trailed 12-0 before finally getting on the board. They were able to close to within 18-11 late in the first quarter after a Kaylyn James (Lakewood HS) three-pointer. But the Warriors just had too much height and offensive weapons, as they shot 48% from the field and out-rebounded the Falcons, 44-32.

Despite trailing the entire game, Cerritos continued to try and push the tempo, which resulted in several offensive bursts, as well as a few too many turnovers. They received 15 first half points from James, who finished with a game-high 18 points.

James would be the only scorer in double-digits, while El Camino boasted six players scoring in double-digits, with four of them posting 10 points. For the Falcons, freshman Crystal Rodriguez (El Rancho HS) accounted for nine points and eight rebounds, with freshman Alexis Clark (Mayfair HS) finishing with eight points. Freshman Christina Mina (Bellflower HS) netted 5-of-6 free throws to help her score seven points, while freshman guard Angie Ferreira (Long Beach Millikan HS) pulled down four rebounds and dished off three assists.
