Competing in their first tournament of the season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team won two out of three games and took third place at the Riverside City Tournament. The Falcons (3-1) will now travel to West Los Angeles College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game.

Cerritos vs. Bakersfield: The Falcons opened the tournament with a 70-55 win over the Renegades, as the team jumped out to a quick 24-12 lead after the first quarter. The advantage swelled to 28-13 in the second quarter after an Alexis Clark (Mayfair HS) basket, with Serena Rendon (Carson HS) converting a layup to give Cerritos their largest lead of the game at 35-20. Continuing to play well, the Falcons opened up a 57-31 lead with 4:15 remaining in the third quarter when Serena Rendon converted a pair of free throws. By the end of the game, four players scored in double figures, with Serena Rendon leading the team with 15 points, five steals and four rebounds off the bench. Clark (nine rebounds) and freshman Jesenia Rendon (Carson HS) both finished with 12 points, with sophomore Angie Ferreira (Long Beach Millikan HS) posting 10 points, five rebounds and five steals in the win.

Cerritos vs. Glendale: Playing in the semifinal game of the tournament, the Falcons were tied with the Vaqueros at 49-49 in the third quarter, but fell behind and could never catch up before losing, 71-64. From the point of the tie game, Cerritos was just 6-for-19 from the field the rest of the way, while Glendale looked to the pair of Sylvia Vartazarian and Cheyenne Jankulovski, who combined for 40 points on 16-of-28 shooting. By contrast the Falcons were only 21-of-60 from the field in the game, but received 24 points from Serena Rendon, which included going 6-for-8 from three-point range. She was the only player in double-figures, with Ferreira (nine points), Clark (eight points, 12 rebounds) and freshman Carolina Cuevas (Legacy HS), who had seven points and eight rebounds, also playing well.

Cerritos vs. Solano: In the third place game, the teams were close most of the game, as there were 11 lead changes. However, the Falcons were able to convert Solano turnovers into points and went on to record a 57-49 win. After taking the lead early in the game, Cerritos spent the rest of the game holding off Solano. The Falcons opened up their largest lead of the game at 55-43 when freshman Jessica Gomez (Legacy HS) drained a jumper with 2:52 left in the fourth quarter. Solano turned the ball over 24 times and the Falcons converted them into 24 points, while Serena Rendon led the balanced attack with 12 points, with Gomez finishing with 10 points. Ferreira (nine points), Jesenia Rendon (six points, six rebounds, five assists) and Clark (six points, four rebounds) also played well. Cerritos also won the game despite getting out-rebounded, 58-29.
