After the first day of the CCCAA State Championships, the Cerritos College men's track and field has just one team point. But the Falcons will be represented in a multitude of events on the second day at Mt. San Antonio College and are in search of their first ever state championship.

The team had entries in each of the three events that took place on Friday, but only sophomore Adam Aguirre (Cantwell HS) finished the day standing on the podium. He took eighth place in the javelin after posting a personal best throw of 181-01 on his second of five throws. On his last throw, Cody Moore of College of the Canyons turned in a distance that put him in sixth place and dropped Aguirre to eighth overall.

Others who competed were sophomore Elvis Salinas (Norwalk HS), who came in ninth place in the 10,000 meters, while freshman Matthew Seawright (Long Beach Millikan HS), who fouled on his first two throws and finished in 12th place with a distance of 152-05, which was 12 feet shy of her personal best. Salinas shaved two minutes off his personal best time at the state championships and finished with a clocking of 33:45.37.

In the decathlon, freshman Thomas Cheval (Birmingham HS) sits in second place after the first five events with 3976 points and trails first place Miles Poullard of Mt. San Antonio by 12 points. Cheval led after the first three events, but Poullard made up 140 points on Cheval in the high jump.
