M. Track: Solid performance at four-year event

For the second week in a row, the Cerritos College men's track and field team went up against four-year competition. The Falcons, who were competing at the Willie Williams Classic at the University of Arizona over the weekend, recorded one first place, second place and third place finish, while the team has several outstanding efforts. The team will now compete in the Pasadena Games on Friday.

Sophomore Adam Aguirre (Cantwell HS) came in first place in the high jump, as he cleared 2.10 meters, which was just shy of the school record he set in the first week of the season. The duo of freshman Thomas Cheval (Birmingham HS) and sophomore Aaron Martin (Carson HS) tied for sixth place at 1.90 meters. All three competed in the long jump, with Cheval (6.96 meters) coming in seventh, Aguirre (6.79 meters) in ninth and Martin (6.31 meters) in 15th place. Cheval recorded a time of 15.46 to place fifth in the 110-meter HH, while Martin was sixth in 15.73. The top Falcon finisher in the event was freshman Mackenzi Rickman (Carson HS), with his third place time of 14.78.

Martin also took sixth in the javelin at 50.86 meters, with Aguirre in seventh at 49.08, while sophomore Jake Ostgaard (La Mirada HS) was a close eighth at 49.07 meters. Also competing in multiple events was freshman Matthew Seawright (Long Beach Millikan HS), whose best finishes came in the hammer (42.65 meters) and discus (41.91 meters), placing seventh and eighth, respectively.

Sophomore Terrell White (Washington Prep HS) recorded a time of 22.14 to come in 10th place in the 200 meters, while freshman Lee Lawson (Dorsey HS) placed ninth in the 100 meters at 10.98. In the 400 meters, freshman Michael Ewell (Long Beach Wilson HS) saw his time of 49.71 earn him a sixth place, with freshman Travis Thomas coming in fourth place in the 400-meter IH in 55.35.

The 400-meter relay team of Thomas, White, freshman Michael Jolly (Paramount HS) and freshman Nicholas Garcia (St. Anthony HS) post a second place time of 41.87.
