Facing primarily four-year competition, 11 Cerritos College men's track and field distance runners competed at the Occidental Invitational on Friday. The Falcons will now send members of their team to the UC Irvine Four-Way Meet with three four-year universities.

The best performance of the day came in the 10,000 meters, as sophomore Elvis Salinas (Norwalk HS) posted the third fastest time in school history. He was clocked in 30:51.90 to come in third place overall and was only defeated by a pair of runners from Claremont-Mud Scripps College. Not to be outdone, freshman Joshua Roldan (California HS) came in eighth place overall, while his time of 31:05.91 put him in fourth place on the school's all-time list. The school record of 30:00.97 was set in 2012 by Daniel Herrera.

Also competing in the meet was freshman Ramiro Santana (Warren HS), who took 34th place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.87 and came in first place in his heat. Coming in second in his heat, and 72nd overall, was freshman Daniel Eckhoff (Western HS) with a time of 2:07.73. It was a 40th place finish for freshman Anthony Lozano (La Serna HS) in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:08.54, while sophomore Joel Perez (Long Beach Wilson HS) finished in a time of 4:12.13, which put him in 51st place. Sophomore Jon Villa (Long Beach Poly HS) placed 28th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:20.19.
