After spotting visiting Citrus College a 6-0 lead through the first three innings, the Cerritos College baseball team scored the next 14 runs in a 14-6 non-conference win at Kincaid Field on Saturday. The Falcons (2-1) scored three times in the fourth inning and exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach. The team will host Ventura College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The Owls (2-2) scored four runs in the top of the first inning against freshman starting pitcher Valentin Flores-Gomez (Gahr HS) and then added two more in the third for a 6-0 advantage. The Falcon bullpen of freshman Adrian Ramirez (Santiago High) and sophomore Andrew Bueno (St. John Bosco HS) came in and shut out Citrus the rest of the way, while reaping the benefits of the Cerritos offense.

They started their comeback with three runs in the fourth inning, as freshman outfielder Jesse Perdomo (California HS) and sophomore designated hitter Kyle Carpenter (Mayfair HS) drew walks off Marcos Martinez. A run-scoring double by sophomore first baseman Brett Thompson (Corona del Mar HS/Saddleback College) preceded an RBI base hit from sophomore third baseman Victor Guadalupe (La Quinta HS).

Guadalupe added a one-out solo home run off Martinez in the sixth inning and played a role in the eight-run seventh inning with a two-run base hit. Carpenter and sophomore outfielder Shane Preston (Deer Creek, OK HS) each supplied a two-run singles off losing pitcher Matthew Page, while sophomore Nick Vasquez (El Rancho HS) collected his first hit of his college career.

Bueno earned the win with his 4 1/3 innings of relief pitching and allowed five hits. Offensively, Carpenter (three runs, two RBI), Guadalupe (two runs, four RBI) and Preston (three RBI) all had three hits on the day for the Falcons.
