In the last five games, the Cerritos College baseball team has scored a total of five runs and has lost four times. On Tuesday night, the Falcons (13-12) were shut out by Fresno City College (23-3), 9-0 and collected just four hits in the game. The team will look to snap their three-game losing streak when they take on Merced College (15-10) at noon on Wednesday at Cuesta College.

Facing one of the best pitchers in the state, Cerritos didn't reach base against Connor Borgdon (8-0) until freshman shortstop Benny Arce (Santa Monica HS) singled with one out in the top of the third inning. The Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the inning off freshman starter Travis Bonner (Cabrillo HS), as the Falcons used four pitchers on the night.

On two of the occasions the Falcons reached base, they tried to steal second and were thrown out. Arce had two of the team's hits, as did sophomore outfielder Shane Preston (Deer Creek, OK HS).

Bonner (1-2) went 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits, while he walked four and struck out three batters. Adrian Ramirez (Santiago HS) pitched three innings, while Jonathan Marriott (La Quinta HS) and Andrew Bueno (St. John Bosco HS) also saw time on the mound.
