Just two days after surrendering three runs in the ninth inning in a loss to Mt. San Jacinto College, the Cerritos College baseball team rebounded for a 5-4 win over the host Eagles on Saturday. The Falcons (5-3) will travel to Santa Ana College on Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. game.

With the score tied 4-4 heading into the sixth inning, the Falcons scored a single run, which turned out to be enough for the win. Mt. San Jacinto had just scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game. With two outs, sophomore designated player Kyle Carpenter (Mayfair HS) laced a double and scored on a base hit by sophomore first baseman Brett Thompson (Corona del Mar HS/Saddleback College).

Sophomore starting pitcer Ryan Arambula (Bell Gardens HS) earned his second win of the year by pitching seven innings and allowed four runs (two earned) and struck out three batters. The runs were the first he's allowed all season. Sophomore George Mendoza (Bell Gardens HS) tossed the final two innings to earn his second save on the season. Mendoza recorded five ground ball outs and posted a strikeout, as he set down all six batters he faced.

Carpenter went 4-for-5 on the day with two RBI, with five other players collecting one hit.
