With a second straight loss to Los Angeles Harbor, the Cerritos College baseball team missed out on a chance to move back into a first place tie in the South Coast Conference. The 19-6 setback was their worst of the season for the Falcons (22-13, 14-6), who are one game behind Long Beach City College with one game left. Cerritos will host the Seahawks (13-22, 9-11) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, while a win, coupled with a Vikings loss, will earn the team a share of the conference title. It's also the first series in conference play that the Falcons did not win.

The game started with Cerritos scoring twice in the top of the first inning and they held a 3-1 advantage after three innings. But LA Harbor put 10 runs on the board in the fourth inning and followed that with four more runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Cerritos ended up using five pitchers, who combined to surrender 20 hits.

In the top of the first inning, sophomore shortstop Daniel Lopez (Montebello HS) led off with a double and advanced to third base on an infield out. Sophomore outfielder Mark Pena (Bell Gardens HS) drove in Lopez with a single and after advancing to second base on an error, scored on a base hit by sophomore catcher Gary James (Sunny Hills HS).

The top five batters in the lineup accounted for nine of the team's 11 hits, as Lopez, Pena, James and sophomore outfielder Fermin Beza (California HS/William Jessup University) each had a pair of hits.
