M. Basketball: Second half surge leads team to win

The Cerritos College men's basketball team used a second half surge to post a 62-51 South Coast Conference crossover win over host Mt. San Antonio College on Friday night. The Falcons (10-8) used their outside shooting to post the victory. They return home to host Los Angeles Trade-Tech College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Leading the second half charge was freshman guard Tyler Payne (La Mirada HS), who came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points. He drained 4-of-5 from three-point range and was joined by freshman Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS), who connected on a trio of three-pointers to finish with 16 points and four rebounds.

As a team the Falcons converted 8-of-14 shots from three-point range, while they also netted 77% of their field goals against the Mounties. Also adding nine points off the bench was freshman Elvis Okafor (International School of Lagos, Nigeria), with sophomore guard Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS) dishing out eight assists. The tandem of sophomore Kyle Geer (Bassick, CT HS/Cuesta College) and Luis Medearis (View Park HS) combined for 17 points.
