The fourth member of the Cerritos College men's basketball team has signed a scholarship with a four-year school. Guard Jay Merriweather (Temescal Canyon HS) has signed with NCAA Division III Pacific (OR) University and joins Luis Medearis (Biola University), Marquise Scott (University of Antelope Valley) and Jamal Watson (Mississippi Valley State University).

Merriweather played in all 31 games and came off the bench in all but four games, as the Falcons won the South Coast Conference South Division and advanced to the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. He averaged 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds a game, while connecting on 90% of his free throws.

He scored a season-high 12 points against College of the Canyons, while accounting for 11 points against both Victor Valley College and Los Angeles Harbor College. He drained a trio of three-pointers in the game against Victor Valley and pulled down five boards, which his season-high of six rebounds coming against El Camino College. As a freshman, Merriweather averaged 8.6 points and 2.2 rebounds a game and scored in double-figures nine times. He poured in 20 points against Long Beach City College, which included five three-pointers.

Merriweather will join a Boxers team that went 12-13 on the season and placed fifth in the Northwest Conference. He will look to fill one of the three guard positions the team is losing to graduation.
