After going 8-0 and winning the South Coast Conference South Division championship, the Cerritos College men's basketball team was seeded #13 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (20-9) will host #20-seeded Ventura College (19-9) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will travel to #4-seeded East Los Angeles College on Saturday.

Tickets for the game are $12 for general admission and $8 for students, staff and senior citizens.

This will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams, with Cerritos posting a 66-58 win in the opening game of the Irvine Valley Tournament in November. The Pirates (19-9) were the co-champions of the Western State Conference North Division. A win by the Falcons and they will face an East LA team that reached the state championship game last season and defeated them, 93-87 in overtime this year.

In the win over Ventura this season, Kyle Geer led the team with 15 points, with Jonathan Brown contributing 14 points and Brian Nebo posting eight points and eight rebounds. For the Pirates, they were led by Elijab Brown's 20 points with Jacob Alonzo finishing with 12 points.

Nebo leads the team with 11.3 points and averages 4.9 rebounds a game, with freshman Luis Medearis posting 10.8 points and has connected on 45 three-pointers. The team has been very balanced this season with Geer (8.5 points), Payne (8.0 points, 35 three-pointers) and Khalid Washington (7.9 points) all leading the team at one time or another.

Brown leads the Pirates with a 20.9 per game scoring average and is the only player scoring in double-figures. Steven Bush leads the with 68 three-pointers and averages 8.5 points a game, while they receive eight points a game from Jamal Lewis. Also contributing to Ventura this season have been Jacob Alonzo (7.3 points), Cordel Hankerson (7.0 points) and Jalon Wilson (6.9 points). As a team, Ventura has hit 263 three-pointers, with 13 of their 14 players converting at least one on the year.
