Continuing their up-tempo style of play, the Cerritos College men's basketball team eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time in seven years, as they recorded a 111-62 win over Los Angeles Southwest College on Friday. The Falcons (18-9, 6-0) shot an impressive 51% from the field, which included 30 attempts from three-point range on the night. The team will now travel to El Camino College on Wednesday in their penultimate game of the regular season. They sit one game ahead of Long Beach City College in the South Coast Conference South Division and will host the Vikings next Friday.

The 111 points were the first time they have scored over 100 points since the 2008-09 season when they scored 107 against Los Angeles Trade-Tech and the most since a 111-point night in their 2003-04 season against Vandenberg AFB.

Cerritos came out firing from the opening tip, and raced out to  a quick 25-6 lead, which was aided by consecutive three-pointers from freshmen Brian Nebo (St. John Bosco HS) and Luis Medearis (View Park HS). By the end of the first half, five different players drained a shot from long range, as the Falcons held a comfortable 59-28 advantage. Freshman Tyler Payne (La Mirada HS) and sophomore Jamal Watson (Lakewood HS) each had 12 points.

The shots continued to fall in the second half, while the fast break worked to perfection. If it wasn't one of the team's 14 steals that led to a transition basket, it was one of the three blocked shots by sophomore Marquise Scott (Artesia HS).

By the end of the game, seven different players scored in double figures, while the Falcons produced 51 points from the bench. Watson led the team with 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while freshman Elvis Okafor (International School of Lagos, Nigeria) posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 points off the bench. Sophomore Khalid Washington (Los Alamitos HS/Central Wyoming College) had another solid game with 17 points (13 in the second half) and six rebounds, with the tandem of Medearis (six rebounds, four assists) and Payne (three rebounds four assists) both scored 14 points.

Nebo concluded with 15 points and four assists, with sophomore guard Jonathan Brown (Fairfax HS) dishing out five assists to go with his 11 points.
