The first of potentially seven players from the Cerritos College men's basketball team to play at the four-year level next season, freshman guard Luis Medearis (View Park HS) has committed to Biola University. Medearis, a 1st Team All-South Coast Conference South Division selection, will have three seasons of playing eligibility with the Eagles. Last season Biola went 30-4, won the GSAC Tournament, and advanced to the NAIA Division I Round of 16 before suffering an 88-80 loss to Mid-American Christian.

Champions of the SCC South Division, the Falcons (21-10) posted a 66-59 win over Ventura College in the first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs, but saw their season come to an end when they dropped a 68-63 overtime game against East Los Angeles College.

Medearis, who averaged 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds a game, also led the team with 47 three-pointers made on the year and shot 35% from long range. Primarily coming off the bench, Medearis provided instant offense and was a high-energy player that the Falcons turned to in big games.

In the playoff game against Ventura, Medearis poured in 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while he also provided over 20 points in three other games. He scored a season-high 25 points in the team's first meeting with East LA, but was limited to just four points in the season-ending game. Medearis scored in double-figures 16 times, despite starting only 13 games, with double-digit scoring coming in 10 of the final 12 games of the year.

Medearis is the second Falcon to commit to Biola in the last three seasons. Jeff Gonzalez, who played for Cerritos during the 2013-14 season, just completed his senior year with the Eagles.
