After a very poor shooing performance in the first half, the Cerritos College men's basketball team came out firing in the second half against host Santa Monica College on Friday. Only problem was that the Corsairs were also firing on all cylinders and recorded a 83-76 decision over the Falcons (3-5). Cerritos hit 13 three-pointers in the second half, while Santa Monica converted 60% of their field goals and went to the free throw line 12 more times.

Trailing 30-18 at halftime, Cerritos received consecutive three-pointers from Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS), but every time the Falcons hit a shot, the Corsairs came right back and drained theirs. Trailing by 22 points (56-34) with 11:51 left in the second half, sophomore Everett May (Los Alamitos HS) connected on a three-pointer followed by a three-point play from sophomore Eric Clark (Cerritos HS).

Down once again by 19 points, the Falcons scored the next 12 points - all on three-pointers - with May accounting for two of them to get to within 66-59 with 5:20 remaining. Santa Monica countered with a trey of their own. Unfortunately, seven points would be as close as Cerritos could get to the Corsairs.

May led the team with 21 points, which came on seven three-pointers, while Henry added 17 points. He connected on four three-pointers. Sophomore Taeo Thomas (Verbum Dei HS) contributed eight points off the bench, with sophomore Miles Ceballos (Crossroads HS/Ventura College) and Dillon Botts (Mayfair HS) each finishing with seven points. Ceballos also dished out seven assists, with sophomore Cameron McCoy (Taft HS) pulling down a team-high six rebounds.
