On Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's basketball team extended their winning streak to seven in a row after a convincing 97-71 South Coast Conference South Division win against rival Long Beach City. The win improved the Falcons record to 14-9 on the year and 5-0 in divisional play. The team will travel to El Camino College on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. game.

Thee 26-point margin of victory over the Vikings was the largest since 2009 when Cerritos won, 78-48. The winning streak also matches the start of last season when the Falcons jumped out to a 7-0 start on the year. The team won nine in a row during the 2019-20 season.

In the first half, consecutive three-pointers from freshman Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS) helped Cerritos jump out to a 20-10 lead, while a trey from freshman Jordun Willard (Paramount HS) with 11:36 left in the first half opened up a 25-12 advantage before the team made it a 28-12 advantage. The lead continued to increase after a pair of buckets from sophomore Taeo Thomas (Verbum Dei HS) allowed the Falcons to hold a 34-16 lead, while on the team's next possession, sophomore Miles Ceballos (Crossroads HS/Ventura College) converted a layup for a 36-16 lead.

It was a 57-31 lead at intermission, and Cerritos continued to maintain their comfortable lead in the second half. The biggest lead of the game (84-49) came with 12:00 left in the game.

The lopsided win allowed the Falcons to come with a balanced attack, as six players scored in double-figures. Sophomore Everett May (Los Alamitos HS), who connected on five three-pointers, led the team with 17 points and also pulled down six rebounds. The duo of Henry and sophomore Eric Clark (Cerritos HS) each scored 11 points on a combined 9-of-16 shooting, with Henry successful on all three of his three-point shots, while he also added five assists. Three players scored 10 points, with Ceballos also adding five assists and three rebounds, while both Thomas and sophomore Cameron McCoy (Taft HS) posted their points off the bench.

Of the 12 players who saw action, 11 of them pulled down at least one rebound, while 10 of them registered at least one assist.
