On Wednesday night, the Cerritos College men's basketball team held off host Compton College to come away with a 70-67 South Coast Conference South Division win. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Falcons (16-9, 7-0), matching a streak they had during the 2019-20 season. They had a 10-game winning streak during the 2017-18 season. The win also keeps the team two games ahead of second place Los Angeles Harbor College and Southwest College. Cerritos will host the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Leading the team to the win was sophomore guard Miles Ceballos (Crossroads HS/Ventura College), who converted 9-of-13 field goals for 23 points and also hauled down 14 rebounds, with six coming on the offensive end.

Cerritos held a 10-point (40-30) lead at halftime and held off the Tartars (7-18, 1-6), who was looking for the upset.

Freshman guard Dillon Botts (Mayfair HS) also crashed the boards and pulled down seven rebounds to go with his 13 points, while freshman guard Darron Henry (Long Beach Poly HS) added 10 points and three rebounds. Coming off the bench, sophomore guard Taeo Thomas (Verbum Dei HS) accounted for eight points and four assists, while the duo of sophomore Cameron McCoy (Taft HS) and freshman Marcel Hayes (Long Beach Poly HS) combined for 11 points and six rebounds.
