After two wins in the three doubles matches, the Cerritos College men's tennis team appeared to be in good shape against visiting Irvine Valley College on Tuesday. Their success continued with two wins at the top of the singles ladder. But that's where their success ended, as the Lasers won the final four singles points to come away with a 5-4 win in a non-conference match. The Falcons (0-1) will now travel to Cypress College on Thursday in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match.

The team's top singles player, sophomore Nathan Eshmade (Kings Baptist HS, Australia) continued his success, as he recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win in singles play, while he teamed with freshman Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya) to post an 8-4 doubles win. Kagoma also won his singles match with a 6-4, 7-6(6) win in the #2 position.

Their fourth team point came in doubles action, as freshmen Nick Simonelli (Long Beach Wilson HS) and Sheldon Hseih (Long Beach Poly HS) teamed up for an 8-6 win. The four losses in singles action saw the Cerritos players win only six combined games, while their #3 doubles loss came as a result of an 8-2 score.
