Receiving just about every award available, Cerritos College sophomore men's tennis player Nathan Eshmade picked up the final accolade this week. Eshmade was named the California Community College Athlete Association Male Athlete of the Month for April. Over the course of the month, Eshmade captured the South Coast Conference championship in singles and doubles, followed the state championship in both events. He was named the conference Player of the Year, State Player of the Year, ITA Player of the Year and the college's Sophomore Male Athlete of the Year.

On the year, Eshmade went 28-0 in singles and did not surrender a set all season, came back against Lovedeep Singh of American River College in the state singles championships to post a 7-5, 6-3 win in a battle of #1 seeds, and concluded the afternoon by teaming with freshman Amadi Kagoma for a 7-6(5), 6-3 win in the doubles finals against #5 Scott Gray and Jakov Tshirkin of Fresno City College. It was the second time this year that Eshmade defeated Singh in straight sets. Eshmande, who finished the year, 28-0, becomes the fifth place in the last 21 years to win both the singles and doubles championship in the same year. The last time the feat was accomplished was in 2005 by Ventura College's Jeroen Van Ruller.
