Facing one of the top teams in Southern California, the Cerritos College men's tennis team used their strength in doubles to pull out a 6-3 non-conference win on Tuesday. The Falcons (9-2), winners of their last eight matches, will have a nine-day break until they host Mt. San Antonio College in a South Coast Conference match. The team was slated to travel to College of the Desert on Thursday, but due to double-booking, the Roadrunners conference match took precedence.

Considered to be one of the top five teams in Southern California - along with the Falcons (9-2) - the Vaqueros were able to split the six singles matches, with each team winning a super breaker along the way. But it was the ability of Cerritos to recover from break points to post a pair of 8-5 wins in doubles to clinch the victory.

Sophomore Nathan Eshmade (Kings Baptist, Australia HS) and freshman Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya HS) remained undefeated in singles and doubles play on the year with their wins. Eshmade posted a 6-4, 6-2 win in his #1 position, while Kagoma played a marathon straight set win over Dro Dermegerdichian, 7-5, 6-4 in his #2 position. The two paired up for a quick 8-1 doubles win.

Freshman Sheldon Hseih (Long Beach Poly HS) held off an upset attempt from Santiago Segovia in the #6 position after the two split the first pair of sets, 6-2, 7-5. But Hseih prevailed in the third set, 10-7 to register the win. Freshman Milos Zoric (Gimnazija Indijija, Serbia HS) was defeated in three sets in singles play, but teamed with sophomore Mark Herrera (Bosco Tech HS) for an 8-5 win in doubles. Hseih doubled with freshman Nicholas Simonelli (Long Beach Wilson HS) and they also won, 8-5 in doubles play.
