In addition to going undefeated during their South Coast Conference season, the Cerritos College men's tennis team also swept the conference tournament. The Falcons (18-5), who will be traveling to College of the Desert for the Southern California Regional Team Semifinals on Tuesday, had three of the four semifinalists in both singles and doubles, with sophomore Nathan Eshmade (Kings Baptist, Australia HS) completing a two-year sweep of both the singles and doubles championships.

Eshmade defeated Whitney Reed of El Camino, 6-0, 6-0 to capture the singles title for the second year in a row. He was primed to take on freshman teammate, and doubles partner, Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya HS) in the finals, but he was upset by Reed, 3-6, 6-7 for his first loss of the season. Eshmade defeated freshman teammate Sheldon Hseih (Long Beach Poly HS), 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the championship match.

In doubles action, Eshmade and Kagoma (pictured left) posted an 8-3 win over Hseih and freshman Nicholas Simonelli (Long Beach Wilson HS) for the championship. The duo recorded an 8-2 win over teammates Mark Herrera (Bosco Tech HS) and Milos Zoric (Ginnazjia Indijija, Serbia HS) in the semifinals. As for Hseih and Simonelli, they got past El Camino's Anthony Ya and Britton Henriksen, 8-6 for a chance to play for the title.
