W. Track & Field: Limited numbers take part in Beach Invitational

Preparing to compete in the South Coast Conference Prelims on Tuesday at Mt. San Antonio College, the Cerritos College women's track and field team had a limited number of entries in the Beach Invitational. The Falcons, who hosted the event, were only entered in seven events in order to keep the majority of their team fresh for the SCC Prelims.

In the 400-meter relay, the quartet of Erin Reid (Long Beach Poly HS), Kierra Miller (Carson HS), Justina Cummings (Westchester HS) and Khadijah Hall (Gahr HS) turned in a time of 48.58 to come in 16th place and were the only community college team in the race. Reid also ran the 100 meters and finished in 48th place with a time of 12.48, while Hall was 53rd in a time of 12.53.

Also competing in the invitational for the Falcons were Kathia Avila (Cerritos HS) with a time of 5:00.53 in the 1500 meters, while LaKisha McGowen (Lynwood HS) posted a time of 16.82 in the 100-meter HH and Nicole Jamie (El Rancho HS) was clocked in 16.92. Joselyne Ibarra (Long Beach Wilson HS) competed in the 800 meters and finished in 2:44.22, while Nkechi Odili-Obi (Crenshaw HS) cleared 1.49 meters in the high jump and Brenda Rivas (Garfield HS) threw the javelin 22.81 meters.
