After winning four finals events last week during the prelims of the South Coast Conference Championships, the Cerritos College women's track and field team carried on that momentum, as they finished off the title on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College. The Falcons added five more championships and easily won the championship with 288 team points, with the host Mounties a distant second place with 197 team points. Cerritos will now embark on the Southern California Prelims next Saturday at Antelope Valley College.

Freshman Alexus Dalton (Long Beach Poly HS), who already won the Southern California heptathlon championship, added three conference championships and broke her own school record in one of the events. Dalton recorded a time of 14.10 in the 100-meter HH to win the SCC title and broke the mark of 14.30 she set earlier in the season. Adding to that title was her high jump of 1.57 meters, while she also long jumped 5.66 meters to finish the triple championship.

One of the ways the Falcons were able to win the conference championship by such a sizable advantage was due to their depth, as the team collected points in bunches in almost every event. Joining Dalton in the long jump were sophomore Erin Reid (Long Beach Poly HS), who came in second place at 5.49 meters, with freshman Kierra Miller (Carson HS) in third place at 5.41 meters. The trio of sophomores Angel Sifuentes (Central Union HS) and Nkechi Odili-Obi (Crenshaw HS/Cal State Dominguez Hills HS) and freshman Stephanie Grant (Bellflower HS) all tied for fourth place in the high jump.

Also winning conference championships and putting their name into the college's top five list was freshman Maira Solis (Roosevelt HS), who posted a time of 4:45.74 to win the 1500-meters. That clocking puts her third on the school's top five list. In the discus, sophomore Larrisha Fields (Lakewood HS) recorded a throw of 43.97 meters, with sophomore teammate Tiffany Gray (El Dorado HS) taking second place with a toss of 38.45 meters.
