The Cerritos College women's tennis opened South Coast Conference play with an easy 9-0 win over visiting Victor Valley College on Thursday. The Falcons (3-2, 1-0) will play their first match on the road this season when they travel to Cypress College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match on Tuesday.

The day opened with Cerritos sweeping all five of the singles matches without surrendering a game. In doubles play, freshmen Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) and Mariia Yatsenko (School 328, Ukraine) posted an 8-0 win. The only close competition of the day was in the second doubles match, as sophomore Amanda Del Cid (LIBRA Academy HS) teamed with freshman Mona Nevalta for the first time this season and they posted a 9-7 win.
