The Cerritos College women's tennis team won their third straight match in a row, as they handed host Rio Hondo College a 9-0 South Coast Conference decision on Tuesday. With the win, the Falcons improved to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play. They will host Mt. San Jacinto College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in a conference match.

A couple of changes were made to the lineup against the Roadrunners, but it didn't keep Cerritos from their dominant win. With #1 singles player Taylor Heath (Cerritos HS) missing the match, the ladder was adjusted, with freshman Anastasia Khomachenko (Sochi, Russia) playing her first match of the season in the #1 position. She responded with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Evelyn Sanchez. Also seeing action in singles play was sophomore Amanda Del Cid (LIBRA Academy HS) in the #6 spot and she posted a 6-1, 6-2 win.

A pair of Falcons registered 6-0, 6-0 wins, as freshmen Mariia Yatsenko (School 328, Ukraine) and Katia Brambila (Bell HS) didn't lose a game. Sophomore Stef Flores (Golden Valley Charter HS) surrendered just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 win at #3, while sophomore Merli Alcasid (Gahr HS) picked up a win at #5 when Cindy Lai was forced to retire with the score 5-5 in the first set.

Yatsenko and freshman Mona Nevalta (Norwalk HS) paired up for the second time this season and they recorded an 8-1 win in the #1 doubles spot, with Khomyachenko and Flores (8-0), along with Brambila and Alcasid (8-2) winning easily.
