Facing a team with just four players, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was able to easily defeat host Victor Valley College, 9-0 in a South Coast Conference match on Thursday. The Falcons (12-3, 6-1) will now travel to Fresno City College for the North/South Tournament over the weekend.

With the Rams suiting only four players, the Falcons received three team points via forfeits, while they won all of the other matches in straight sets. It also allowed most of the regular players to get a rest before the tournament, as Cerritos moved players up the singles ladder.

Sophomore Merli Alcasid (Gahr HS) assumed the #1 singles position and posted a 6-2, 6-4 win, while she also teamed with freshman Katia Brambila (Bell HS) to play in the top doubles spot. The duo recorded an 8-1 win, while sophomore Amanda Del Cid (Libra Academy HS) teamed up with freshman Edith Bermudez (Pioneer HS) for an 8-2 score. It was the first action for Bermudez all season, who also recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win in the #4 singles match.

Del Cid posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in the #2 singles match, while freshman Mona Nevalta (Norwalk HS) stepped in and registered a 6-0, 6-2 win in the #3 position.
