Cerritos College freshman swimmer Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela HS) competed in his second event at the CCCAA State Championships at East Los Angeles College on Saturday. Moreno, who came in 17th place in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, was competing in the 100-yard freestyle.

Moreno qualified for the state championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.14, which was good for fourth place and was the 27th of 29 qualifiers. He struggled in the event and finished with a time of 49.15, which did not advance him to the consolation round.

In the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, Moreno recorded a time of 55.19 in the prelims was one place shy of competing in the evening consolation round. At the South Coast Conference Championships last week, Moreno swam a personal best 54.00, which was the 14th fastest time in the state and earned him a third place finish.
