Moreno qualified for the state championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.14, which was good for fourth place and was the 27th of 29 qualifiers. He struggled in the event and finished with a time of 49.15, which did not advance him to the consolation round.
In the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, Moreno recorded a time of 55.19 in the prelims was one place shy of competing in the evening consolation round. At the South Coast Conference Championships last week, Moreno swam a personal best 54.00, which was the 14th fastest time in the state and earned him a third place finish.
