M. Swimming: Cerritos moves into third place after second day

Thanks to third place finishes in four events, the Cerritos College men's swimming team has moved into third place at the South Coast Conference Championships. The third day of the championships, which are taking place at Mt. San Antonio College, are on Saturday. The Falcons trail second place Long Beach City College (385 points), but have pulled ahead of fourth place El Camino College, who have 353.5 points.

Cerritos opened the second day with a third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.38, with the quartet consisting of freshman Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela HS), freshman Alan Pae (Kennedy HS), sophomore Marcus Delgado (La Serna HS) and sophomore Henry Rodriguez (Downey HS).

Individually, Pae took third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.37, and touched up right before Delgado, whose time of 1:00.41 earned him fourth place. Delgado also came in fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly (54.61), while Rodriguez recorded a sixth place time of 55.27. Moreno swam the 100-yard backstroke in 54.00 to take third place, with Rodriguez in eighth place at 1:00.02.

In the 800-yard freestyle, freshman Randy Baldwin (Buena Park HS), freshman Thomas Duenez (El Rancho HS), freshman Diego Lucas (Warren HS) and freshman Fernando Lua (Gahr HS) posted a fifth place time of 7:40.61. Sophomore Jacob Ramsaur (La Serna HS) posted a time of 4:47.83 to take ninth in the 400-yard IM, while Baldwin came in third place in the 1-meter diving event last week when he compiled 150.45 points.
