It's been nearly two years since the Cerritos College men's track and field competed in a meet. On Friday, the Falcons took part in the Mt. San Antonio Open and performed very well in the field events. Next up for the team will be the Riverside City Relays on Friday.

Freshman Micah Norfles had the best day of all, as he won the hammer and discus, while finishing third in the shot put. In the hammer, his distance of 37.87 meters (124' 3") bested the field, with freshman teammate Casanova Ah-Fook posting a third place distance of 35.95 meters (117' 11). As for Norfles in the hammer, he turned in a first place throw of 35.57 meters (116' 8"), which just beat out Ah-Fook, who had to settle for second place at 35.11 meters (115' 2"). Ah-Fook had a chance to win the event, but fouled on his last two attempts.

In the shot put, Norfles had to settle for third place with a distance of 11.95 meters (39' 2 1/2"), which included a foul on his sixth and last attempt. Freshman Keyaun Sterling finished second in the long jump of 6.67 meters (21' 10 3/4"), which he recorded twice, while he placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.02 meters (46'). High jumpers Trysten Minter and Alan Tabales tied for fifth place, as they both cleared 1.80 meters (5' 10 3/4"). Both failed three times in their attempt to clear 1.85 meters.

The Falcons also finished fourth in the 1600-meter relay (3:34.62), while freshman Bryce Pearson competed in the 60-meter hurdles and recorded a fourth place time of 9.44.
