W. Basketball: Six players earn All-Conference

A trio of Cerritos College women's basketball players have earned 1st Team and 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference South Division recognition. Sophomores Nia Lateju (Norwalk HS) and Alii Salone (Gahr HS), along with freshman Selena Romero (Lakewood HS) have been named to the 1st Team, while sophomore guards Priscilla Valdovinos (Fremont HS), Tache' King (Gahr HS) and Dijonnae Murphy (Santa Fe HS) were named to the 2nd Team.

The Falcons (16-11) came in second place in the South Division and were fourth overall in the SCC. They were omitted from the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Lateju led the team with an 11.6 scoring average and is second on the team with a 7.5 rebound average, while Romero was second in scoring (11.4) and led Cerritos with an 8.3 rebounding average. As for Salone, concluded the year third in scoring (9.2) and rebounding (6.3). Romero led the team with 11 double-doubles on the season, while Lateju posted five double-doubles.

Valdovinos did a great job running the team's offense and finished the year averaging 5.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists a game, with King coming off the bench to account for 2.4 points and 2.8 rebounds. Murphy, a solid defender, contributed 2.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
