After winning their opening game of the College of Sequoias Tournament, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was defeated in their next two contests. The Falcons (3-4) defeated Reedley College, 82-75 and then dropped decisions against San Joaquin Delta College (69-47) and Santa Rosa Junior College (75-47) to see their record fall to 3-4. The team will now compete in the Los Angeles Valley College Tournament starting on Friday and face San Bernardino Valley College at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cerritos vs. Reedley: Balanced scoring led the Falcons in their close win over the Tigers. The duo of sophomore forwards Alii Salone (Gahr HS) and Nia Lateju (Norwalk HS) each scored 18 points and combined for 14 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jacalyn Saiza (Santa Fe HS) produced 14 points and five assists in the win. Cerritos looked to score from three-point range and were just 6-for-25, but Lateju was able to convert 13-of-18 free throws to finish off the victory. Sophomore guard Priscilla Valdovinos (Fremont HS) posted seven points, five assists and four rebounds in the win.

Cerritos vs. San Joaquin Delta: Cerritos fell behind early in the game and fought the entire time to get back into the contest. They played better in the second half and were outscored only 37-30, but the damage had already been done. Saiza netted five three-pointers and led the team with 17 points, with Salone pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds to go with her seven points. As a team, the Falcons were just 10-for-32 from free throw range. Freshman center Selena Romero (Lakewood HS) pulled down 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Cassidy Carrillo (St. Paul HS) came off the bench to add six rebounds.

Cerritos vs. Santa Rosa: For the second straight game, the Falcons saw their slow start result in a lopsided loss, as the team trailed, 38-14 at intermission. The team was out-rebounded, 47-31, while the Bear Cubs netted 44% of their field goals. Romero (11 points, four blocks) was the only player in double-figures, with Carrillo (eight points, four rebounds) and sophomore Dijonnae Murphy (Santa Fe HS), who had four points and five rebounds, playing well off the bench. Saiza contributed six rebounds and five assists.
