Cerritos College freshman Aissha Baldwin (Mayfair HS) was in the right place at the right time in Wednesday's South Coast Conference opener at Los Angeles Harbor College. Locked in a tight game with the Seahawks, Baldwin pulled down 10 of her 16 total rebounds on the offensive end and added 18 points, as the Falcons (12-6, 1-0) posted a 57-51 victory. Cerritos will now host Los Angeles Southwest College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

In the second half, Cerritos held what appeared to be a commanding 43-30 lead with 11:35 remaining. But LA Harbor's (7-7, 0-1) turned to Kianna Angel, who netted a trio of three-pointers and tied the game at 45-45 with 6:56 left in the second half. Angel scored 15 of her game-high 27 points in the second half.

The Falcon defense held the Seahawks scoreless for the nest 3:25 and used that time to take a 49-45 lead. The game was tied once again at 51-51 with 2:20 left, and Baldwin accounted for the final six Cerritos points. She drained 8-of-10 free throws on the night and also led the team with three steals.

Bench scoring also fueled the victory, as they outscored the Seahawks, 26-4, with the duo of freshmen Sydney Lopez (Whittier Christian HS) and Ashley Flores (California HS) each scoring seven points, with Flores also pulling down seven rebounds. Freshman Crystal Lomax (Lynwood HS) added six points and eight rebounds off the bench.
