On the strength of their 63-42 win over host Los Angeles Southwest College Wednesday night, the Cerritos College women's basketball team will have a chance to play for the South Coast Conference South Division title on Friday. The Falcons (18-10, 5-1) will host first place El Camino College (18-8, 6-0) at 7:00p.m. and a win earns the team a share of the title. In their first meeting, the Warriors posted a 67-57 win.

In the victory over the Cougars (6-18, 1-5), the team worked through a slow start and opened up a 12-point lead at halftime. In the final minute of the first half, freshman Aissha Baldwin (Mayfair HS) converted a three-point play, while freshman Verenice Gomez (Whittier HS) drained a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Cerritos used that momentum in the second half, as they converted half of their shots and saw seven different players record at least one assist. Freshman Sydney Lopez (Whittier Christian HS) came off the bench to score 16 points and pull down seven rebounds, with 14 of them coming in the paint, while Baldwin also finished with 16 points and seven boards.

Although she was limited to only six points, sophomore Selena Romero (Lakewood HS) pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, while the duo of Gomez and freshman Crystal Lomax (Lynwood HS) each scored seven points.
