A strong first half performance by the Cerritos College women's basketball team was enough to defeat ECC Compton Center, 60-46 on Wednesday night. The Falcons (16-10) held a 31-16 lead at intermission after opening a quick 8-0 lead and maintained that advantage throughout the game. The team will start the second half of the South Coast Conference South Division on Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Harbor College.

As a team, Cerritos netted seven three-pointers on the night, including a team-high four from sophomore Cassidy Carrillo (St. Paul HS), who led the team with 12 points. In the game, the Falcons received strong bench support, as they combined for 27 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Sydney Lopez (Whittier Christian HS) recorded 11 points and five rebounds, with freshman Janel Oliver (Bellflower HS) posting her best game of the season with seven points in 16 minutes of action.

Freshman forward Aissha Baldwin (Mayfair HS) recorded her 14th double-digit rebounding night and seventh in the last nine games, as she led the team with 10 caroms and added nine points. Sophomore guard Michelle Navarro (Warren HS) directed the offense and dished out five assists, with sophomore Selena Romero (Lakewood HS) scoring eight points in the win.
