Continuing their offense onslaught against their opponents, the Cerritos College women's soccer team eclipsed the double-digit mark in goals for the second time this season. Hosting Pasadena City College (1-8-3) in a South Coast Conference crossover game on Friday, the nation's top-ranked Falcons (14-0-0) posted a 10-0 win, which also marks their 13th shutout of the season. On the year, Cerritos has out-scored their opponents, 81-1. The Falcons will host East Los Angeles College at 2:00 p.m. on another crossover game on Tuesday.
With their offensive pressure not waning for the full 90 minutes, the Falcons put 28 shots on goal against PCC and scored five times in each half. Adding to her state-leading total in goals and points, sophomore Sydney Carr (El Modena HS/UC Irvine) scored four times and added three assists. Her 11-point game now gives her 73 points on the season, while she has now amassed 29 goals, which both lead the state. She's also tied for the state lead with 15 assists. Three of Carr's goals came within 4:16 late in the game, while she also assisted on two of the Falcons first three goals.
Joining the multiple-goal list on the day was freshman Claudia Paz (Huntington Park HS), who scored three goals, including two of the first three on the day. Her first goal of the day came in the 15th minute when she was able to get a leg up and chip the ball into the goal on a nice pass in front of the net by sophomore Serena Camacho (Los Osos HS/UC Irvine). Paz was in position to score on a rebound 2:28 later after freshman Valeria Corrilo (Dominguez HS) got off the first shot. The hat trick was completed in the 59th minute after she got past the Pasadena City defense and scored all alone on a breakaway. The three tallies now gives Paz four goals on the season.
Camacho, who is tied for second in the state in assists (14) picked up three on the day, with two of the assists coming on goals by Carr. Camacho also got the scoring started in the game with her 18th goal of the season. Corrilo and freshman Gabriela Jimenez (Long Beach Jordan HS) also scored for Cerritos.
The Falcon defense didn't allow Pasadena a single shot attempt all day, with sophomore Deisy Rodriguez (Katella HS) and freshman Alejandra Velazquez (South Gate HS) combining for the shutout.
