In their second straight match, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was defeated by host Santa Barbara City College, 6-3 on Saturday. The Falcons (7-4) will resume South Coast Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Rio Hondo College for a 2:00 p.m. match.

Down 2-1 in the team scoring after doubles was completed, Cerritos earned wins in the top two positions on the singles ladder. However, the Vaqueros collected wins in the other four to secure the victory.

Freshmen Petra Such (Gyula Illyés, Hungary) and Diviana Bravo (Unidad Educativa Rosa de Jesús Cordero, Ecuador) accounted for all three of the team's points with their 8-2 doubles win, along with their singles sweeps. Such handed Laura Berther a 7-5, 6-2 decision at the top of the ladder, while Bravo polished off Lesley Zapata De Lira, 6-1, 6-2.

By no means was it an easy with for SBCC, as two of the singles matches could have gone either way. In the #3 match, sophomore Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) came up on the short end of a 6-7 (7), 6-3, 4-6 score against Tyler Bunderson, while sophomore Mona Navalta (Norwalk HS) was defeated, 5-7 6-7 (5).
