A late addition to their season schedule, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was defeated by NAIA school McPherson (KS) University on Thursday. The Falcons (9-5) have just one more regular season match remaining before the start of the South Coast Conference Tournament. The team will travel to El Camino College for a 2:00 p.m. match next Tuesday.

The final score was not indicative of the competitveness of several matches. In two of the doubles matches, the Bulldogs (3-2) were able to pull out close 8-6 scores. The Falcons top doubles tandem of freshmen Petra Such (Gyula Illyés, Hungary) and Diviana Bravo (Unidad Educativa Rosa de Jesús Cordero, Ecuador) just missed out on pulling off the win, while Such extended Brittany Zipf in the #1 singles match to a 7-6 score in the second set.

Sophomore doubles partners, Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) and Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) also played a tight match in their meeting with Zue Boumeester and Lea Striegel, but came up short in an 8-6 decision. The team's lone win came in the #5 singles match, as sophomore Mona Navalta (Norwalk HS) posted a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win.
