After winning the South Coast Conference championship and being seeded #6 for the Southern California Regional Team Playoffs, the Cerritos College women's tennis team suffered a season-ending loss. On Tuesday, the Falcons (10-6) were defeated by #3-seeded Santa Monica College, 6-3, which ends their team dual season. The team will now prepare for the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships, which will get underway April 27 in Ojai.

Early on, the Falcons had a chance to take a lead into singles play, but the Corsairs pulled out a 9-7 win in the #2 doubles match. The pairing of sophomores Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) and Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) led early on, but could not hold on, which gave Santa Monica a 2-1 team score lead as they moved to singles.

Cerritos earned a quick win in the #6 match, with freshman Mary Navalta (Norwalk HS) posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory, while freshman Diviana Bravo (Unidad Educativa Rosa de Jesús Cordero, Ecuador) was awarded a win over Abby Mullins in the #2 match after three misconduct calls were levied against Mullins. Bravo was leading at the time, 6-3, 3-5. Aceves was in a close match against Sabrina Subero in the #4 match, but came up short in a 5-7, 4-6 decision.
