W. Tennis: Shutout over El Camino ends regular season

The Cerritos College women's tennis team concluded their regular season with a 6-0 win over El Camino College on Tuesday. The South Coast Conference champion Falcons (10-5, 4-0) will have a break until the South Coast Conference Tournament, which will take place at Cerritos on April 6-7.

The match concluded quickly, as Cerritos defeated the shorthanded Warriors in both doubles matches by surrendering only two games. They continued that momentum into singles and were met with little resistance outside of the #1 singles match.

Freshman Diviana Bravo (Unidad Educativa Rosa de Jesús Cordero, Ecuador) competed for the first time in the #1 position on the singles ladder and posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Stephanie Kingham. Bravo also teamed with top doubles partner, Petra Such (Gyula Illyés, Hungary) for an 8-2 win, while sophomores Danielle Pastor (Bishop Montgomery HS) and Elizabeth Aceves (Downey HS) earned an doubles 8-0 win.

Pastor moved into the #2 singles spot in the lineup and earned a 6-4, 6-0 win, while Aceves shut out Sophia Manouchery, 6-0, 6-0. As for freshman Mary Navalta (Norwalk HS), she was leading, 6-0 when her opponent retired the match.
