Over the course of the two-day CCCAA State Championships, the Cerritos College women's track and field team amassed a record 149.50 team points. Competing at American River College in Sacramento, the Falcons became just the third school to win three straight state titles and join only Mt. San Antonio College and Sacramento City College to accomplish the feat. It was also the eighth state title in school history and seventh in the last 12 years.
In capturing the state championship, the Falcons won eight events, led by sophomore Juanita Webster (Redlands HS), who captured four individual championships and took second in another. For her efforts, Webster was named the Field Event Athlete of the Meet. She set new school records in winning the 100-meter HH with a time of 13.65 and in the triple jump with a distance of 12.96 meters and added titles in the long jump (6.00 meters) and defended her heptathlon title while amassing 5424 points. Adding in the seven events of the heptathlon, Webster competed in 12 events and account for 48 of the Falcons points, which would have put her in six place in the team scoring.
Also winning state titles were sophomores Skylin Harbin (Bishop Alemany/College of the Canyons), who posted the third best time school history in the 400-meter IH (1:01.83); sophomore Breanna Curry (University HS) in the high jump (1.70 meters); freshman Amber Hart (Narbonne HS) in the shot put at 13.55 meters, which tied her personal best and was the top mark in the state; freshman Mystasia Alexander (Lynwood HS), who broke her own school record in the javelin with a state's best mark of 45.61 meters; and the 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Lilian Ebanks (Valencia HS), freshman Kymberlynn Jackson (University Prep HS), Curry and sophomore Meka Story (Gahr HS), who recorded the second best time in school history at 45.83.
With the championship already cliched, the Falcons changed up their 4x400-meter relay team and still posted a second place time of 3:47.63 using the quartet of Curry, Jackson, Harbin and sophomore Brandy Navarro (Montebello HS).
