For the third time in the last four years, the Cerritos College men's water polo team opened their season on the other side of the country. The Falcons, who were in Annapolis, MD to compete in the Navy Open, split their four games, with their two losses coming against the nationally ranked Midshipmen. On the first day, they defeated Gannon (PA) University, 17-11, but dropped a 26-13 decision against the Navy after playing to a 10-10 tie at halftime. They followed that with a 20-7 win over Penn State (Behrend) University and then finished their trip with a 13-10 loss to the Midshipmen "B" team.

Cerritos vs. Gannon (PA) University: In the first game, freshman Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) set a new single-game school record with nine goals. He helped the Falcons get out to a first quarter lead, which they never relinquished. Joining Rojas on the scoreboard was the duo of sophomore Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela) and freshman Israel Rodriguez (Whittier HS) with three tallies each. Rojas also led the team with six steals and three assists, with freshman goalie Ariel Prado-Madera (Buena Park HS) turning away seven shots.

Cerritos vs. Navy: The Falcons were able to stay with the Midshipmen for the first half, as the teams were locked in a 10-10 game. But in the third quarter, Navy started pulling away and led 19-12 before settling on their 26-13 victory. Rojas and Rodriguez each scored three times in the effort, while freshman Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) and sophomore Peter Roldan (Downey HS) each recorded a pair of goals and four steals. Prado-Madera played the entire game in the net and made eight saves.

Cerritos vs. Penn State (Behrend) University: It was a 4-2 lead for the Falcons after the first quarter, but a seven-goal second quarter helped them open an 11-3 advantage at halftime. Angel Rojas tied his single-game scoring record with nine goals in the victory, which included Moreno adding four goals and five ejections drawn. The team converted four of their eight man-advantage situations, but were called for 15 ejections in the match. Prado-Madera came up with eight saves, two steals and assisted on one of the goals.

Cerritos vs. Navy "B" Team: Closing out their trip with a match against the Midshipmen's "B" Team, the Falcons held an early 3-2 lead after the first period. But the six goals and six steals by Angel Rojas could not overcompensate for the team's 11 turnovers and 12 ejections, which were converted into six Navy goals. Four other players added goals for Cerritos, while Angle Rojas posted three assists.
