Cerritos College freshman men's water polo player Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) had a month of September that is equivalent to a full season worth of accomplishments. In the 15 games played by the Falcons over the course of the month, Rojas amassed 78 goals, along with 39 assists and 60 steals. As a result, he was named the CCCAA Male Athlete of the Month. Through 24 games, he leads the state with 114 goals, 65 assists and 82 steals.

In just those 15 games, Rojas has positioned himself to become the most prolific goal scorer in Cerritos College history. The school record of 132 goals is well within reach after just one month of play and has a chance to break the school record of 97 steals in one season. He set a new school record with nine goals in a game, accomplishing the feat twice, during the course of the first three games of the year against a pair of four-year schools. He followed that up the next week with eight goals and a school-record 10 steals against Palomar College. Cerritos went 13-2 in the month and finished September with an 11-match winning streak, with their only two losses to the Navy's varsity team, where he scored a combined nine goals.

Rojas is the eighth male athlete to receive the award and 18th among Falcon athletes. He is the first water polo player to earn the award since its inception in 2006.

The CCCSIA/CCCAA Athlete of the Month program is coordinated by the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
