After a close first period, the Cerritos College men's water polo team turned on the jets and pulled away from host Mt. San Antonio College in a 16-6 South Coast Conference win on Wednesday. For the Falcons (13-3, 3-0), it was their 11th win in a row. The team will now host a mini-tournament on Friday and host Orange Coast College at 9:30 a.m. and then play a 1:30 p.m. game against Palomar College. Both  games in Friday will be broadcast live on www.socalcollegesports.com.

It was a 2-2 game after the first quarter, but after that, the Cerritos defense clamped down and limited Mt. SAC to just one more goal before halftime. For the Falcons, they scored four times in the second period and added five goals in each of the final two quarters to pull away and win.

Freshman Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) continued to score goals in bunches, as he recorded seven in the win over the Mounties to go along with four steals. The duo of freshmen Jeffrey Park (Cerritos HS) and Israel Rodriguez (Whittier HS) each added a pair of goals and steals, with sophomore Peter Roldan posting four steals. Freshman Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela) recorded five assists, while sophomore Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela) added three helpers and two steals. Sophomore goalie Alfredo De La Mora (Bell Gardens HS) posted 10 blocks and also made three steals to help the Falcons on the day.
