Record-setting Angel Rojas earned All-America honors

Led by the record-breaking freshman Angel Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela), the Cerritos College men's water polo team received 15 post-season awards. Playing one of the toughest schedules in the state, the Falcons finished fourth in Southern California and concluded the season with a 23-11 record and placed second in the South Coast Conference.

Rojas, came within one assist of being the first player in California Community College history to record over 100 goals, assists and steals in one year. He finished with school records in goals (155), assists (99) and steals (105), which includes single-game record for goals in a game (9) and steals in a game (10). He was named 1st Team All-America, 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Southern California and was the conference's Co-Player of the Year.

Joining Rojas as an All-America selection was sophomore Marlon Moreno (Colegio Virgen del Rosario, Venezuela), who finished second on the team with 105 goals, along with 34 assists and 37 steals. He missed the playoffs after getting injured in practice one day before the start of the post-season. Moreno also earned 2nd Team All-Southern California recognition and 1st Team all-conference. Sophomore goalie Alfredo De La Mora (Bell Gardens HS), who recorded 223 blocks in goal, along with six goals and six assists in the field, was named 2nd Team All-SoCal and 1st Team All-SCC. The Falcons fourth All-SoCal selection was freshman Jesus Rojas (Colegio Fray Luis Amigo, Venezuela), who finished third on the team with 46 goals and second with 76 assists, along with 51 steals.

A pair of Cerritos players were named 2nd Team All-SCC and included sophomores Matthew Skinas (La Serna HS) and Peter Roldan (Downey HS), while the trio of Israel Rodriguez (Whittier HS), Jeffrey Park (Cerritos HS) and Cody Anderson (Valencia HS) were selected honorable mention. Skinas accounted for 43 goals, 29 assists and 52 steals, while Roldan had 30 goals, 32 assists and was second with 66 steals. He was injured prior to the conference tournament and missed the final six games of the year. Rodriguez finished the season fourth on the team with 46 goals, along with 24 assists and 48 steals, while Park was third on the squad with 49 assists, and added 15 goals and 33 steals. Anderson provided 17 goals, 13 assists and 30 steals.
