Sophomore thrower Destiny Talalemotu (Long Beach Millikan HS) won two events and set a new school record for the Cerritos College women's track and field team at the UNLV Invitational over the weekend. Not only did she win the discus with a toss that went 45.55 meters, her shot put of 15.27 meters eclipsed the old school record she held, as the Falcons performed extremely well against four-year schools. The team will now travel south on Saturday for the Pt. Loma Nazarene Invitational.

In addition to her two first place finishes, Talalemotu came in fourth place in the hammer with a throw of 50.96 meters.

Also winning a pair of events and adding her name to the college's top five list was sophomore sprinter  Najia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS). She won the 100 meters in a time of 11.96, which puts her fifth on the all-time list, while her blazing time of 23.90 in the 200 meters moves her name to second on the college's record list. Her time is close to breaking the college's school record time of 23.84 by Arianna Wright in 2012. She also ran the second leg of the 400-meter relay team that came in second overall with a time of 46.33, which is now fifth on the top five list. That quarter consisted of Lilian Ebanks (Valencia HS), Najia Hudspeth, Nylia Hudspeth (Kennedy HS) and Meka Story (Gahr HS).

Additionally, freshman Juanita Webster (Redlands HS) continues to impress everyone with her superior skills in the heptathlon. The Arizona State University signee posted a winning total of 5188 points, which moves her into second place in the college's all-time list behind Alexus Dalton, who compiled 5201 points in 2014. Along the way, she turned in the fourth best time in the 100-meter HH (14.48), while her long jump of 5.65 meters is the sixth best in school history.

In the 200 meters, Nylia Hudspeth finished in fourth place with a time of 25.01, followed by Ebanks and her time of 25.19 for fifth place. Sophomore Maria Orosco (Katella HS) earned second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.01 and edged out two Division I runners by less than a second, while the 1600-meter relay team of both Hudspeth sisters, Rabia Hawes (Long Beach Wilson HS) and Bria Palmer (J.W. North HS) turned in a second place time of 2:46.29.
